Dalmatian Christmas Ornament
The Dachshund is affectionate, dignified, responsive and friendly. They belong to the non-sporting group and have a life span of about 11-13 years. While the origin of dalmatians is obscure, it is well documented that by the early 1800s they were closely associated with the area on the Adriatic Sea known as Dalmatia. They became known as coach dogs as they were used to work alongside horse-drawn coaches and guard the horse and rig while unattended. When fire-engines were drawn by horses the dalmatian began its association with firefighters. An interesting fact is that dalmatians are born without spots.
