The Collie is affectionate, graceful, intelligent, and loyal. They belong to the herding group and have a life span of about 12-14 years. The Collie originated in Scotland prior to the 1800s, at which time the first written records are established. The Collie was popularized first by Queen Victoria’s love of the humble shepherd dog. Later in the 20th century it became an ideal child companion by the book and long running TV show Lassie.
