Bloodhound = Sleuth Hound
The Bloodhound is independent, gentle, affectionate, and obedient. They belong to the hound group and have a life span of about 10-12 years. Bloodhounds appear to be the oldest extant hound that hunts by scent. The development of bloodhounds is credited to high ranking members of the pre-Reformation church. The monks charged with executing the breeding program of the bishop’s hounds were so careful and their hounds became known as “blooded hounds” – meaning of aristocratic blood. Blood hounds because of their unrivaled scenting powers and intense devotion to their work have been helping law enforcement and, in some places, earned the name “Sleuth Hound”.
