Australian Shepherd = Pastor Dog
The Australian Shepherd is Work-oriented, protective, loyal, and affectionate. They belong to the herding group and have a life span of about 12- 15 years. The breed originated in western North America in the 19th & 20th centuries. The Australian Shepherd are tireless sheep herders, they are particularly useful in the Rocky Mountains as they are relatively unaffected by altitude. They have been known by many names, one being Pastor Dog and it is believed by some that they may has some Basque origins in Spain.
