The pineapple is a symbol of hospitality. The crowned fruits were displayed on dinner tables as a sign of one’s rank in society as they were extremely expensive and difficult to obtain. They were in such low supply and high demand that local bakeshops would rent them to households at a high cost to be displayed for the day. It was this that made the noble fruit the symbol of social events and it became the meaning of welcome, friendship, and hospitality.
Candle extinguisher or douter
Candle snuffers are designed to extinguish candles safely. They were originally invented circa 1776 and called extinguishers or douters. We have combined the safety of candle extinguishing with the symbol of hospitality to enhance any decor. They are both practical and beautiful.
